howto:
go to your ACYL folder & open terminal. copy-paste these 2 commands:
# cd scalable/apps
# ln -s ../real_icons/apps/xfce4-clipman-plugin.svg parcellite.svg
-i hope this hasn't been done before.
i was thinking of editing one (only 1!) icon with some svg prog, then take bits of code from the generated .svg and apply this bit to all acyl icons, with the acyl gui code view.
would that be possible?
ps: i ran into the same problem as 1 other person here: inkscape doesn't like acyl's svg files.
If you have more questions I am happy to help.
btw, what kind of license are you using with this? i mean, is it ok to remix and republish?
i've run into a problem: i don't see how i can get the icons to be informative if it does not include the use of colors. this is a pity because acyl is the broadest (i think 1 cannot say complete here) icon set i have come across.- and generally good looking shapes. i will try out more. maybe some weird alchemistic miracle will happen. also there's other icon theme modifying utilities out there, or maybe acyl's script can be used on other svg themes... ramble, ramble
Anyway, I don't think there is any point in modifying the acyl script for another theme, it would simply be to much work. Instead it would be better to write a new script tailored for that specific theme. There is also a lot of work in making the icons work well with the script. My icons are easy because they are monochrome and still it was a lot of work making so many icons work with the script.
and no, i wasn't aiming anywhere...
what i mean is this:
i can make acyl look really good and smooth, but when i look at a folder with mixed content it takes usually longer to see where are the pdf's, the odt's, the folders, jpg's...
with sth like gnome icon theme i recognize the file types faster, but i don't like the looks of it so much.
somehow i thought i could combine these two qualities; and realised that a) it has been tried before, and b) it will always be a compromise. also, this is the limit of acyl, almost by definition...
so, the problem is not really technical.
and it definitely wasn't meant as criticism, i hope you understand that. matter of fact i'm using it again now.
